Slowboat offers excellent value for money and very friendly and efficient service from both the management and staff. The restaurant is conveniently located in the centre of Chester close to the bus station, train station and shops. We visited without a reservation but that wasn’t a problem as it is a spacious restaurant. The interior is tastefully decorated with comfortable seating. Food service is fast and the quality is very good. It was raining and freezing cold temperatures outside when we visited so the soup, which was included in the menu, was particularly welcome. Additionally, the main course dishes were served on chafing racks which is an excellent idea to keep the food hot. There were a couple of large groups (one celebrating a birthday and the other a family) and several couples dining at the same time; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and their meals, so it is clearly a good restaurant for any occasion. We are happy to recommend Slowboat and we look forward to returning someday.

My review is based on Takeaway order. The food was definitely not worth the prices charged £38.30 with delivery included £4.50 a bag charge and a service charge albeit pennies. . I ordered two soups, one ribs and one main course with boiled rice. Hot and sour soup was reasonable, Chicken and sweetcorn soup was literally a clear soup with just the odd bit of corn in it. The ribs were small and chewy, however sauce was tasty. The Main course was fairly good. The soups were overpriced for sure. I knew the cost before ordering and I did still order expecting a pretty outstanding takeaway, but it was nothing special.
Would i order again, sadly no. I understand food is expensive now, nevertheless the quality did not justify the price.

Best Chinese restaurant in Chestsr by a country mile!! Everything was superb fresh and tasted amazing! Even the desserts were absolutely gorgeous!! Left a very full person and will definitely be visiting again

Went for the sit in all you can eat buffet on bank holiday Monday, good selection of dishes and starters but minimal puddings to choose from. You get to choose six starters at a time and when you are finished you can order another six starters continually until you have had enough, main meals are ordered one at a time but when finished you can order again, same ordering applies to puddings also. Ribs were nice but a bit crispy I like them to fall of the bone. Main meal was very nice I had the pork in spring onion and ginger with noodles and beansprouts, pudding was banana fritter and ice cream which was very good and you can keep ordering until you are full. £21.50 per person not including drinks. Staff were very nice and helpful. You can park in the car park next to Iceland for 4 hours and get a voucher for the car park off of the staff when paying your bill which reduces the car park fee to £1.50p all in all very nice place to eat.
